A wedding reading

My best friends heart is mine

(A wedding reading)

I know what you do for a living, what I want to know is if you can dare to dream.
Can you dig your toes in the sand and feel the warmth of the sun on your face,
Will you run with me along the edge of the shore, dodging the waves, and laughing at the spray from the water showering our clothes.
Can you laugh without constraint, and cry without shame, in good times and bad,
And will you lie with me, and hold me when I need support and reassurance, not just when things are going well.
Will you risk looking a fool for love,
holding my hand, arms around each other, when we follow life’s adventures,
I don’t care how much you earn,
I want to know that you will get up each morning, even after a sleepless night, and do what needs to be done to feed our children.
I want to know that you will face all life has to throw at us, be by my side and not pull back.
I want to know if football teams fail, or hairdressers mess up, that it will make no difference to our day. That we will still, dance to the music, walk with nature, and laugh with love.
Above all,
I want to know if you love me for the person I am, not the person you want to make me.
I want to know if I am the other half of your dreams, the partner in your adventures, or if you dream alone brushing aside my dreams.
I want to know , if you say yes, it won’t just be for now, or until it suits you, but forever and always.

Then you turn to look at me.
I see the look in your eyes and I know that my best friend is the other half of my heart, and you will always love me with your whole being.
